Re>Pal recently successfully tested using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags in its pallets at a live test in the Pasuruan factory. RFID technology has been around since the early 1980’s and is an increasingly popular technique for identifying objects. We tested using read-write/ write once passive tags that are then read by a high-powered scanner with the results fed into a warehouse management system (WMS) from the tag provider.
We tested 5 pallets by dropping 10 tags into the 5 pallets while the Re>Pal plastic dough was hot just before the compression molding process. Two tags used per pallet for redundancy. I am pleased to say that the WMS read all 10 tags. We were not testing the WMS, as we don’t recommend any particular WMS – this is down to each warehouse/ company – more that we wanted to prove that the Re>Pal pallet can be used for RFID tracking down at the pallet level as needed by clients. It might be some time before this is required, but when it is, Re>Pal is ready.
